I absolutely love wooden toys and prefer them over the plastic kind any day. However, I had never considered looking for them in Asda before. When asked if I wanted to review some wooden toys for them I had a quick look and was amazed by what they offered so jumped at the chance.

The girls chose some new furniture for their dolls home and a little shop cafe. We couldn’t wait for the delivery.

The dolls house

When the box of dolls house furniture arrived I was amazed. Firstly it is packaged in one big box so would be perfect as a present. It includes:

1 double bed

1 single bed

1 wardrobe

1 bedside table/ draws

1 Bath

1 toilet

2 sofas

1 coffee table

1 lamp

1 dining table with 4 chairs

1 oven

Set of four dolls

All of the furniture is in pastel colours pink, white, blue and green so compliments the Asda dolls house perfectly or in fact any dolls house really. Our dolls house was not from Asda and is a few years old now. It’s been in 4 houses so along the way much of the furniture had been lost or broken. We were left with just nursary furniture and a few dolls but now have a beautiful full house.

I have photographed it with just the Asda furniture and with our old stuff too just to show how it all goes together. The girls are pleased, especially Rosie the house usually lives in her bedroom:

I can not praise this set enough for little ones. There’s not lots of small pieces, the furniture feels sturdy enough, it looks good and most amazing of all is the price. The whole set costs just £15. That’s the price of one room for our house.

The girls verdict – they love it!! Rosie did mention that duvets would have been nice on the beds but other than that it’s perfect and we would definitely recommend.

Two in one wooden play shop and cafe

Now I have to tell you that the girls absolutely love this toy, I love this toy but husband did not enjoy building it. He is pretty good at building stuff and enjoys doing it but said this felt flimsey and things didn’t go together as easily or smoothly as items we’ve brought in the past like our toy kitchen etc. That said it didn’t take him that long to build though.

I think at £35 it’s an absolute steal so as long as you are not expecting a solid wood construction you would not be disappointed.

This little shop and cafe has brought hours of fun to our house. The girls love playing shops so one day it’s an icecream parlour and another a supermarket, toy shop or a fruit and veg stall. It’s been all sorts and I’ve enjoyed seeing their little imaginations go wild. Best of all its on wheels so can be wheeled into different locations.

All the girls enjoy writing on the signs, we have price lists or ice cream flavours written on the side too and all the girls like to take it in turns at being the shop keeper. We have had a few arguments over it but generally all three girls (aged 2, 4 & 6) play nicely together with it:

We have only had these toys a few weeks so cannot comment on how long they last but based on first impressions we are pretty impressed and would definitely look at Asda again for wooden toys. Have you discovered them yet?

We were very kindly allowed to choose £50s worth of wooden toys for the purpose of this review. All words and opinions are our own though.
