Last weekend we headed to Westbury Court Garden for the afternoon. It’s one of our favourite National Trust places to go when we want to just spend a few hours in pretty gardens, perhaps with a picnic. Sometimes we go when the girls are shattered and don’t want to be out long or perhaps if we think it might rain so don’t want to be out all day.
Originally laid out between 1696 and 1705, this is the only restored Dutch style water garden in the country. Visitors can explore canals, clipped hedges and working 17th-century vegetable plots and discover many old varieties of fruit trees.
The girls love it there as much as we do. The staff there are always lovely. They always make them feel welcome and often let them feed the fish. which is of course a highlight of the adventure. Honestly, these fish have huge mouths which always make the girls giggle. I should point out it’s fish food in the coffee cup Rosie is holding in her hand here:
Now anyone that follows me on instagram will know my girls are often found wearing gorgeous outfits. However, on this particular day the youngest two are wearing brand new Autumn/ Winter items from the Lilly and Sid collection:
Daisy wears – Unicorn Applique Pini, Frill Neck Layering Top and Bow Knee Highs in Navy
Rosie wears unicorn Appliqué Top and Bow Knee Highs (the skirt is from the Spring Summer Collection)
These items were kindly gifted to us so we decided to give them a proper play test:
We always have a little wander around, taking lots of photos because it is very pretty. I can’t tell you how well kept these gardens are, they are just beautiful. Luckily our girls enjoy visiting these sorts of places and are usually very well behaved. They happily skip ahead a bit do a little gymnastics or play hide and seek but they never go far away:
Well Daisy might do a little gymnastics in the trees but thats not exactly badly behaved is it? She’s always careful to make sure she holds onto sturdy branch and doesn’t hang off the little ones or break them:
For those who like us, enjoy taking photos, everywhere is picture perfect:
Last weekend we didn’t take a picnic but we usually do. One year when the girls were all very young, a family of ducks came and joined us. It was hilarious and the girls loved it. There are plenty of picnic tables or benches to sit and eat if thats what you want to do. Like I’ve said before though, we were just there for a little walk:
The only sad thing is the girls used to like seeing the rabbits but due to vandalism they don’t keep them any more. It’s horrible to think that anyone would hurt animals or they weren’t safe. What shame:
The girls are wearing a mix of clothes in these photos because well the weather was a bit mixed up too. One minute it was hot, so Poppy has her faveoruite playsuit on. The next minute it was cool, the reason Daisy opted for an Autumn look. Rosie played it safe and stuck in the middle, combining a summer skirt with a long sleeved top and knee high socks. Aren’t these socks gorgeous?
There was so much colour everywhere. The gardens here are beautiful and very well looked after. Such a shame Daisy didn’t want a photo with her sisters though:
All in all a great way to spend and afternoon.

September 24, 2018 at 9:39 pm (6 years ago)It’s lovely to have a go to place when you just want to chill out together and appreciate the pretty surroundings. I love all their clothes, Poppy’s play suit is very cute as is Rosie’s top and Daisy’s pinafore. Certainly looks like the clothes gave them plenty of movement and freedom to play. #CountryKids

September 26, 2018 at 11:25 am (6 years ago)Westbury Court Garden looks like a beautiful place to visit – I can see why it is one of your favourites. Feeding fish is so much fun. I love your girls’ unicorn-themed outfits – they are so pretty. Looks like they passed the play test pretty well too! Looks like you had a wonderful day and that your girls had a lot of fun in the gardens. It’s a shame though that the rabbits aren’t there anymore because of vandalism. Thank you for linking up to #CountryKids
