Last weekend we headed to Osterley for a little fresh air. Daisy had been off school all week with a nasty chest infection whilst Rosie had been off with croup. There had been a lot of duvet days and lounging around in our pyjamas so a little walk was just what the Dr ordered:
Osterley is our family special place, somewhere we visit often and always enjoy. Every visit is different. Once we arrived though we knew it wasn’t going to be our average kind of walk. There was a security man on the gate, the usual car park was full of white vans and there was a sign up about filming. The huge field in front of the house was now a carpark too. Ooh what was going on?
There was a lot of secrecy and the National Trust staff weren’t allowed to tell us what they were filming. We did ask. Rumours around the other visitors were that they were filming the new Sherlock Holmes movie. I’m not sure if that was true or not though. We did see some people dressed up in traditional looking suits but didn’t recognise anyone. Apparently Jude Law is going to be in it but we definitely didn’t spot him!
Filming was happening inside the house and it wasn’t open for visitors. that didn’t matter to us though as we often just stay in the grounds. Its our favourite part of Osterley. The perfect place to let of steam, run and explore:
We headed to the walled gardens for a little walk. It was pretty frosty and slippy so we didn’t do the usual play trail. Well just the swings! Everyone there seemed to be a bit excited about what was going on:
To be honest it was just nice to get out for a bit. Stretch our legs and get some fresh air after a week indoors. We weren’t out long as the younger two didn’t have much energy but they were all smiles and had fun. They do love Osterley. Walking into a film set just added to the excitement.

February 4, 2017 at 3:56 pm (8 years ago)It’s a shame the girls have been poorly, I always find a walk in the fresh air always brightens my lot up after being ill. What an exciting sight to see as you arrived there, I bet the girls were chattering bout it your whole trip. As ever your trip to Osterley Park looks to have brought a smile to all of the girls, it’s clear you all love it there.
Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.
