Due to Husbands job we were lucky enough to see the Olympic Torch today at Britannia Royal Naval College. This meant we escaped the hustle and bustle of the huge crowds and got a great view. We took the girls and stayed to luch too. It was a lovely day out.

This was us girls, all dressed up before we left:

There was a bit of hanging around but luckily the weather was lovely. We had a few refreshments first and then the girls got to run around with the other children – they had great fun.

Once things started to happen we were amazed by how big the neterage was. Before you got to see any sign of the flame there were about 8 riot vans, 12 Police bikes, at least 8 coaches plus the sponsored buses (Banks, Samsung, Coke) and about 20 cars and mini buses, it was amazing!

The runner ran straight past us and stopped to pose right next to us. Talk about up close and personal. Poppy was amazed by the whole thing, especially as she has been learning about the Olympics at School.

Next they transferred the flame from the torch to the Tilly lamp so they could stop for lunch. This was then placed where everyone could see it.

After lunch, one of the cadets – Katie was set to run the next leg but stopped to pose for a few photos first:

It really was a lovely day out and got us in the mood for the Olympics this year.

By the end of it though, we had two tired little girls and one just could not keep her eyes open any longer:
