Children have a habit of seeing things that us adults just can’t. They see magic everywhere. When I’m with my three, I can’t help but see the magic too:
Take last weekend. It was cold and very misty. The girls were going a little loopy and Daddy was home, so we decided to wrap up warm and go out for a little walk. We always like to try and get outdoors at weekends. Husband almost didn’t take his camera and told me it was pointless taking mine as the photos wouldn’t be any good…but I ignored him, persuaded him to take his too and am I glad I did:
We went for a little walk at the top of a hill on the Cotswold Way. We have been meaning to visit for a while now but as we drove to it we realised we were climbing higher and higher into the clouds. I thought the girls would be grumpy but no, they couldn’t wait to get out and see if they could touch the sky with their fingers:
At the start we could hardly see a thing. The girls would run forward a little and then turn back, checking we were there. They never usually do that. After a while the mist began to part slightly and we were given glimpses of what would be wonderful views:
It really was freezing but they didn’t winge or whine. Instead they ran, skipped, jumped in puddles and justchad fun:
Its amazing how with children, a misty cold day can turn into an exciting walk out. They imagined they were entering another world and it looks like it too.
Do you see the magic?

February 18, 2018 at 2:19 am (7 years ago)It’s surprise walks like this that are often the best. Unplanned and full of unknown adventures. The mist sure does add an element of magic to a walk and definitely a great way to fire their imaginations!! #countrykids

February 18, 2018 at 8:29 am (7 years ago)Wonderful to get outside whatever the weather. There’s something a little bit eerie for kids on misty walks that makes them nervously excited. I love their attempts to ‘touch the sky’ and great photos too. Good job you persuaded hubby to take his camera too! #CountryKids

February 18, 2018 at 10:21 pm (7 years ago)I do love an outing that turns out as this one did. I wonder if we were out on the same weekend, our photos look equally misty and murky and yet we all had a great time! A shame not to see the view, but you know what…that just means a chance to return another time! It was definitely worth taking the camera, you have some great photos of your adventurous girls enjoying a good blast of fresh air.
Thank you for sharing with me on #CountryKids

February 21, 2018 at 5:43 pm (7 years ago)I love these sorts of adventures. Where you go in with low expectations but children manage to find the magic in it all and you can’t help but get swept away with them. I love the contrast in your photos between the colourful coats and the misty sky as well! #CountryKids
