Next year is going to be a big year for this family. You see towards the end of it, my Husband is going to be having a big career change and we are finally going to settle down and buy our forever house. To say we are excited and looking forward to it is an understatement.
No more moving every few years is going to be wonderful. Buying furniture to fit rather than squeeze ours in, is going to be a luxery and I for one can not wait. Instead of just dreaming about holidays, nowadays I am dreaming of furniture, room layouts and building designs too. In fact I spend hours browsing the internet for inspiration. There is just so much choice out there!
I have no idea what our new home will look like on the outside but inside I know I want it to be sparkly and new with lots of light and space. It will definitely not be painted magnolia from top to bottom and will need to be big enough to cope with three teenage girls and their friends. They might only be 3, 5 and 7 years at the moment but I don’t want to outgrow this house too quickly and want it to be somewhere where their friends feel comfortable and want to hang out too.
Now ideally this house would be somewhere warm, with lots of glass windows looking out to either the sea or countryside (perhaps with a pool or spa) but we haven’t won the lottery yet. Wherever it it might be though, in my dreams our new home will have a very welcoming feel to it and pops of colour everywhere.
It will be a house where people feel relaxed enough to take their shoes off and put their feet up and be in no hurry to leave. It will be clean and contemporary but not minimalist, it will be full of our families personality too.
The downstairs space really matters to me and I have visions of open plan living. The idea of being able to cook dinner whilst keeping an eye on the girls or helping them with homework really appeals. I would love to have a decent sized kitchen/ dinning room with room for a squishy or L shaped sofa too.
Here’s a few kitchen/dinning room ideas I love:

We gave our architect a lot of images we found online to help with our design (wish we’d known about Homify) and he said we were the easiest clients he’d ever had cause we were able to communicate what we wanted.
