After a very stressful Summer waiting to hear if Rosie had a school place she finally started today 🙂

On Tuesday she had a home visit and took to her Teachers straight away. She has been so excited and last night when I was tucking her in bed she gave me a great big hug with a huge smile and said ” I can't believe I'm really starting school tomorrow, I can't wait”. This morning she ran in to our bedroom to tell us it was time to get up and that it was her big day – she was starting school. She couldn't wait to get into her uniform especially her new shoes.

She was so proud of herself.

I wasn't emotional because she was so very ready. I very proudly watched her trying to talk to children in the playground. The first girl ran off when Rosie tried to chat to her but undeterred she began talking to another girl who wasn't as shy. A few minutes later the Teacher arrived to collect them and with a quick kiss and “bye Mummy” she flew off to be the first in line. Barely looking back she couldn't wait to get started. I hadn't expected any problems but was quite taken aback at how well she went in.

At lunch time when I collected Rosie her the smile was still there and she was full of stories about everything she had done. Enthusiastic to go back tomorrow. The only thing she is not happy about is that she doesn't get to stay for lunch or the afternoon until after Christmas. I don't really understand why the process is dragged out for quite so long but it's the same for all children in this school.

Anyway we are glad she has a place and wants to go, I'm looking forward to watching her grow and develop this year and can't wait to share more on this later.
