There is something a little bit special, perhaps even a little bit magical about pretty painted beach huts all in a row at the seaside. We have been to Cornwall several times but not really seen any before so were determined to find some this time round.

So if you want to see beach huts where do you need to go to find them?

Just head to Bude. We were advised to visit either Summerleaze or Crooklets beach. Both have brand new beach huts opened this year so they look fantastic. We chose to go to Summerleaze and were not disappointed:

Summerleaze Beach is Bude’s central hub of sand, surf and sun and apparantly the best beach in Cornwall for outdoor pursuits and water sports. It was much busier than the beaches close to where we were staying but it really was lovely and perfect for families with young children. We were really fortunate with the weather too, the rain held off, the sun came out and the sky was a beautiful bright blue colour:

We would have loved to stay longer but the girls were worn out after their day at Coombe Mill so only stayed for a few hours. Just long enough to pose in front of the beach huts (they tired of this after 2 minutes so I didn’t manage to get a family shot), splash about in the sea in their wellies, play in the rock pools and dig sandcastles. We also did a quick drive by of Crooklets beach and that looked like another really lovely one for another time:

A very enjoyable afternoon. We would love to go back when its warm enough for swimsuits. Maybe even have a dip in the natural sea pool. That looked fun!
