Last week Poppy turned five….wow where have all those years gone? It doesn't seem two minutes ago when she was first born. Time has just flown by:

Nowadays she is turning out to be a proper little girl with her own distinct personality. She's beautiful and clever, a little bit cheeky and sometimes a bit bossy too. She's affectionate and soaks up everything like a sponge. I tinkered with a photo to show what she likes most:

She shares her birthday with her Daddy but he had to work on the day 🙁 We still had lots of fun though. Nanny and Gramps took us bowling, then the girls played in the soft play area before we finally went out for dinner. It was a lovely day and when we returned home Daddy was here to help blow out the birthday candles…,perfect!

On Saturday we had a joint party with her friend Alex at our local community centre. It had a princess & pirate theme and everyone came dressed accordingly. There were party games, lots of running about and dancing but best of all was the bouncy castle. They all really enjoyed themselves. Sadly Rosie couldn't go as she had chickenpox but she liked her goodie bag:

There were Princess & Pirate invitations, both a pirate and a princess castle cake (sadly mine was a bit of a flop) and themed picnic lunch boxes which also doubled up as goody bags. We made butterfly, heart and pirate shaped sandwiches. There were mini boxes of raisins, mini chedders, yogurts and chocolate biscuit bars. We also made chocolate dipped marshmallows. Big jugs of squah and water were on hand to cool them down as were fruity ice pops as it was pretty hot.

The boys took home Pirate patches & bubbles whilst the girls had clips made by me and sweetie watches. They also each took home a helium filled balloon which had been used for decorations and of course a big piece of cake.

Poppy feels very grown up now she is five. I love my big girl and am very proud of the little lady she is turning into.
