Most of us love a bit of a bargain, a sale or a discount don’t we? And in this day and age we quite happily agree to add a little online review for things we buy from clothes to holidays right? Well I was recently approached by Revooly.com a website that combines the two together and actually pays people (not just bloggers, anyone!) to write reviews for electrical goods. This means a discount on a product you wanted to buy in exchange for a review.
The site is very easy to negotiate and you can use it in three ways:
A) as a place to check for thorough honest reviews on a product you are considering purchasing,
B) to check the cheapest price (they check daily for you to find the cheapest price and place to buy) saving you time and energy, or
C) to buy a product and review it for a discount.
How it works
You can’t just buy any electrical product, they do have a wish list of things they want reviewing. You need to check the wish list to see if the product you want is there. I selected a Tassimo multiple hot drinks machine, of which there were three to choose from. Each product has the price with a discount on it i.e. 10% 30% 50% This is how much you will get back once you have submitted your review:
If you click on the green box everything is spelt out clearly from how much it will cost today to how much you will receive back. It will vary from item to item like these:
You will need to book a review slot (they give you 2 weeks) and then purchase. My Tassimo came from Amazon and was delivered the very next day.
Revooly.com even provide straightforward guidelines to help you with the review. You can submit a written review with photos or a video review, the choice is yours. They tell you how many words, photos etc are required and offer advice on the structure too. What you write is up to you, based on your honest opinion but you do need to follow the guidelines because if your review isn’t up to scratch you won’t get paid. You are not just writing a few measley lines, it needs to be pretty thorough.
I was fully compensated for my experience so I could blog about it but I went through the same procedure as everyone else would.
I chose the item I wanted, booked my slot and ordered it. Then submitted my review two weeks later. They even sent a friendly email reminding me I had 3 days left to submit it. It was a very easy, painless procedure and one I would definitely recommend to others.

Personally I have not heard of anyone else offering paid reviews to the general public before but think it’s a great idea. Electrical items are expensive so every little bit helps.

I received a Tassimo T55 for the purpose of review but all words and opinions are my own
