With 3 little girls under 5 it’s pretty hard getting out on News Years Eve so it was other quiet one in for us this year. Luckily we had the entertainment sorted already, courtesy of Warner Bros:

Well if I’m totally honest the chocolates were long gone, as we’re the candy canes, I had a bit of help from these cheeky monkeys:

We chose to watch News Years Eve which was on Blu Ray and UltraViolet.

From Director Garry Marshall comes an all star ensemble romantic comedy. New Year’s Eve celebrates love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts, in the intertwining stories told amidst the pulse and promise of New York City.

OK so its sounds a bit cheesy right? well to be honest it was but even so we enjoyed it (even Husband who cant stand this sort of thing normally).

Set on the biggest night of the year, in the lead up to the big ball drop, this film looks at several peoples lives and how they all entwine over the course of the evening.

Without giving it all away three’s a turbulent relationship with a Mother (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her Daughter who wants to spend the evening with her boyfriend so she can kiss him at midnight. There’s the two that get stuck in an elevator: he hates New Years and she needs to be elsewhere as she’s a backing to singer to Jenson (Jon Bon Jovi). There’s the dying patient (Robert De Nero) who’s last wish is to see the big ball drop and two couples who are trying to win a bonus by having the first Christmas baby. Oh and then the guy who needs to deliver a speech at the said ball but breaks down on the way.

Our favourite story though was the one where Ingrid (Michelle Pfeiffer) quits her job after almost being hit by a cab. She then offered Paul (Zac Efron) tickets for the Ahern Records Masquerade Ball if he helps her complete a list of New Years resolutions before midnight. Seeing the imaginative ways he helped her to fulfil them was just lovely and made us smile (ok, we were feeling a bit soppy)!

All in all a very easy to watch film that has bits that will make you smile and bits that might even make you shed a tear. Not the best film in the World but not the worst either.

So thats what we got up to this year. A movie, followed by watching fireworks both outside our house and on the telly (they were amazing this year weren’t they? Hope you all enjoyed your evenings.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year everyone.
