Well I am not going to lie to you, having three children under the age of five is hard work. I am finding that I just don’t have enough hands or time to keep everyone happy and get everything done. I am particularly struggling with the whole sitting on my bum breast feeding when there’s a pile of ironing, a house that needs hoovering and a million other jobs to be done.
The girls are pretty good but the house seems to be pretty loud lately. With a baby screaming and two little girls fighting for my attention, I often want to just scream myself too. I know it will all settle down soon but at the moment I am just trying my best and I guess thats all I can do!
Monday – A pretty good day today. The girls had fun in the garden so that kept them happy and Daisy was pretty settled too. This evening I let the girls make mini pizzas again. They had great fun and felt spoilt as they dont get to eat that sort of thing often.
Tuesday – the health visitor came to try and complete Daisy’s hearing test. Unfortunately the test came back as not a clear response in one ear. She was very nice and told me not to worry as she is cooing and gurgling and startles at loud noises. Someone is going to come out next week to try again. She was pretty settled today though and the girls were really good too. They especially loved the fact they got to pick and eat some of the tomato’s we’ve been growing.
Wednesday – Daisy was really unsettled all morning and I didn’t even get a chance to eat breakfast until 11.30am. It was a bit of a nightmare. In the end I stuck her in the moby wrap and hoovered up. She fell fast asleep then.
A friend came round with her boys in the early afternoon though which was lovely and just what I needed to cheer me up. She even brought much needed chocolate muffins with her!! perfect. Husband then came home early too – he must have received my telepathic messages that I needed help. It was a tough evening with Daisy finally settling at 11pm.
Thursday – Wow, daisy slept right through till 6.45am and I woke up feeling like a new woman. Today was a lovely day, Daisy was very settled which meant the girls got lots of attention too. I managed to take us all to the shops, play park and even make cookies. Everyone was happy!!
Friday – My birthday!! It was an unsettled morning but then got better around lunch time when Husband came home. He and the girls made me a very yummy cake and they all sang to me.
This evening Mum and Dad popped over to babysit so we could go out for a meal which was lovely. We went for an Indian, something we haven’t done in years. Daisy took her 1st bottle no worries which meant we could relax a enjoy ourselves.
Saturday – Today we headed off to Bristol Zoo. It wasn’t the best of days as Daisy was unsettled…not wanting to lie down, needing to be fed etc. I think next time I would use the moby wrap instead of the pram. The girls had fun though and that was the main thing.
Sunday – We got lots of jobs done this morning like the ironing and husband mowed the lawn. This afternoon we Went round to Mum and Dads for a roast dinner. It was gorgeous. Mum is still not well so we didn’t stay all day but it was good to see them.
All in all a good week. Its taking some time adjusting to having three little ones, often finding we don’t have enough hands, even when we are both home. When comfortable Daisy is a happy, content baby who likes her sleep and smiles lots but she suffers terribly with trapped wind, holding onto it for hours which causes her some discomfort. We hope it sorts itself out soon.

August 28, 2012 at 4:14 pm (12 years ago)I read the first few sentences on Google reader and then hopped across to tell you to get a Moby Wrap as I found mine invaluable.
But you have one already – yyyeaaaah!
You know you can wrap it in a way where you can breastfeed in it and still walk around. I know it wouldn’t be fair on baby to hoover while feeding but at least you would be mobile.
