I've been buying things on ebay for a few years but a few months ago I caught the selling on ebay bug. My husband has been doing it with his stuff for years but just before Christmas I decided to have a big clear out of children's clothes and baby stuff we don't use anymore. Things I would usually give away to friends and neighbours or even throw away.

I didn't know if it would sell or if it did how much it would go for but I took a chance. I spent some time photographing it all and uploaded it to the app….easy. In my head I wanted to make at least £100 and I did plus more….result! The following week I uploaded another 10 items and they sold too.

The thing that spurred me on most was a lovely message I received from a lady who had brought a number of items from me, saying her parcel had arrived and she was thrilled with it. Having never brought second hand clothes before she was a bit nervous but was really excited when she opened it up. It was such a lovely message it made me smile all day and knowing another little girl would be wearing those clothes I loved so much just made that smile even bigger. I was hooked! Since then I've sold even more.

The only thing now is I'm constantly looking around for things to sell.

Just in case you want to try it too, here's my top tips:

1. Take decent photos – this is important as people like to see what they are buying

2. Make sure your items title explains what you are selling and that it is spelt right – spelling mistakes will mean your item is not listed properly and therefore you can miss out on bidders seeing it

3. Put as much detail in the description as possible – people like to know what they are bidding on. If you home is a smoke free/ pet free one then tell us. People like to know these things

4. Put on realistic P&P prices – no one likes to feel ripped off!

5. Finally make sure your listing ends during a prime time when people are watching eg Fri/Sat/Sun evenings

Hope this helps!

What do you usually do when your little ones grow out of their clothes, have you ever sold them on? I'd love to hear from you.
