Wow, does anyone else think that this year went even quicker than last? It just flew by.
I do love this time of year when I look back at how my girls have changed. As with all the other years, the changes have been huge. This year Daisy started in Key Stage 2 and Poppy began Secondary school, so no more little ones….they seemed to have grown up even more.
It’s not always easy juggling three or capturing them all in photos but I do my best and have done since 2013. Here’s my girls together in 2019:

This year Poppy turned 11 and seems to have changed the most. To be honest it wasn’t the easiest year for her and at times has been quite stressful. Despite passing her Grammar Test back in October last year, she had to wait until March to see if she had got into her school of choice. Thankfully she did, so she could relax until the summer when she left her old Primary school and the nerves kicked in. Saying goodbye was hard but Poppy was presented with the best English award after her SATs and she stayed in touch with her best friends. Only 1 of those went on to her new school with her though.
There’s been a few ups and downs with the difficulty and difference of some lessons in her new school (Art and Maths) but thankfully she has a lovely group of new friends (as well as her old ones) and she’s happy. She especially loves Spanish! Poppy was finally accepted into junior tumbling this year in June and as well as gymnastics has been working on getting more flexible at home with yoga. She trains at the gym for almost 3 hours a week and loves it! I’m excited to see where next year takes her as she is very determined and I’m so proud of all she has achieved this year.
Rosie turned 9 this year and has come on in leaps and bounds after her tricky year last year (glandular fever). She is fitter and stronger than ever before thanks to gymnastics and tumbling, which she started in January this year. After just 8 months, Rosie learnt to flic and now it’s like nothing can stop her. She went from Saturday lessons to Mini Squad in June, then her club’s Developmental Squad in September. From then on she was training for 4 1/2 hours a week which brought her gymnastics on as well as her confidence. She then received a letter in December inviting her to join the Junior Competition Squad in January. She’s so proud of herself and I am too.
This year Rosie discovered she could run and joined the schools cross country team. She also visited her sisters school and decided its where she wants to go next. She started Tutor sessions in October to help get her there and is doing really well. I’m so proud of the lovely girl she’s turning into. She puts 100% into everything so I couldn’t ask for anything more.
Daisy turned 7 this Summer and has had a really mixed year. She still doesn’t love school, probably because she has to work so hard at it. Reading hasn’t come to her as naturally as her big sisters but this was the year she finally started to take off with that. She’s had a lot of ups and downs at school mainly because of changes but I hope this settles and improves next year.
Outside school Daisy has been doing amazingly well with her gymnastics. She was accepted into Mini Squad in June but sadly broke her ankle the week after, which really set her back a few months. Thankfully she recovered though, continued to do well and like her big sister Rosie, will be joining the Junior Competition Squad in January. I’m so proud of her too. With her determination and ability, I think she’ll go far. I’m also hoping it will calm her down a bit.
It’s such fun looking back at these photos, so if you’re interested feel free to look at my previous posts. It’s amazing how much they have changed in the past seven years.
Heres hoping 2020 is even better.
