Apparently moving at 6 is the hardest thing ever.
I do completely understand. Swapping schools, leaving friends and everything familiar to start over when you don't want to can be scary. I'm feeling a little apprehensive and nervous myself. I've left my parents, friends, a fantastic school for my girls and everything familiar too.
Poppy's mood swings are taking their toll though.
Thankfully she loves her new school, her teacher and classmates. She loves our new house, her bedroom and the garden. However, when it all gets too much (usually when she's been told off for something) she switches to screaming and shouting – hating everything from school, to the house and everything in it but especially me. Not pleasant at all.
I know she just needs to make friends, we all do. It won't be long I'm sure. Until then I am trying to be patient and gentle with her, trying to listen and reassure her. I'm trying to ensure she gets special time with me and I'm trying to make sure she understands bad behaviour is not rewarded but good behaviour is. It's exhausting but slowly things are getting easier.
The younger two girls have coped amazingly well. Once they saw all our familiar things around us they were happy and settled. Rosie loves how busy it s here, likes riding the bus and can't wait to start school now she's met the Teachers. Daisy loves the new big garden, having her cot side taken off and the fact there's still plenty of space to scoot.
Best of all they see their Daddy every morning, evening and weekend.
Let's hope we all make friends soon and things improve for Poppy. I will keep you updated.
