Imagine a wood, green and dark and full of adventures. Little steps and a trail that lead the way up and down hills to make your way through a wooded valley. The sight of a waterfall gushing its way to the stream below and the sound as it pounds against the rocks as it falls. After you have walked for a little while (not too far so perfect for families) you hear the crashing sound of waves. You have reached a beach. This is not just any beach either. This is one with caves and the promise of more mystery and adventure to come:
This isn’t make believe, there really is such a place and we visited it back in February during our trip to Cardigan, Wales. We had such a lovely time exploring the beautiful welsh beaches, made even more special because we were visiting my very best friend Sarah. You might have seen some photos of our trip over on instagram. I can’t believe its taken me so long to write about it but I’ve been busy looking after poorly girls pretty much since!
Where is this gorgeous place though? Well it’s Penbryn Beach, Cardigan Bay and it’s owned by the National Trust:
The beach itself is around a mile long and is surrounded by beautiful walks. The day we visited it was raining, not just any rain either…it was sidewards rain but that didn’t stop us from having fun and declaring it the best beach ever!
Th girls got as close to the caves as possible but next time we would time it when the tide was out so we could go in and explore properly. We had so much fun collecting shells, seaweed and bits of stick for Rosies nature line she needed to do for her holiday homework:
We splashed and sloshed in the water , ran, jumped and skipped and generally just enjoyed being out and about in the fresh air. Oh and in case you’re wondering why we have a huge bear with us, its Sparkle, Daisy class bear. Of course she had to join in all our adventures too:
The wind and rain didn’t bother us too much but we would love to visit again when the sun is shining.
I will be sharing more of the beautiful Welsh beaches we visited whilst there but I think this was our favourite.

March 24, 2018 at 12:19 pm (7 years ago)This looks like a perfect beach to adventure on rain or shine, beautiful walks, caves, sand and pebbles/shells, it ticks every box. It’s great that the girls had such a magical day, Rosie managed to find some fab nature treasures to use in her homework. Daisy looks like having her class teddy with her made the adventure even more exciting for her!
Thanks for linking up your seaside adventure with me on #CountryKids.
