I am not known for being the most crafty Mum ever but my girls love making stuff and getting messy so I do try to endulge them. The warmer weather means we can get messy outdoors which is perfect for me!

On Saturday, Rosie was at a Birthday party, Daisy was napping and Poppy was sad so we decided to make moon dough.

We didn’t measure anything but just kept adding flour and baby oil until it rolled into a neat ball and looked right. Next we divided it up into two balls and added pink food colouring to one and blue to the other. We had the gel colours and they worked perfectly. We then raided my craft supplies and found glitter and sparkly hearts and snowflakes.

We had started off indoors but decided to take it outdoors and add a few flowers – in went buttercups and daisys as well as some little purple flowers we have in the garden. We added some leaves and grass and even some twigs too. Poppy was having a great time running around the garden picking flowers and even climbing up to reach the best leaves:

Finally it looked like this:

No longer just moon dough, Poppy decided she had made magic spells. The blue one for the Elfs to help gardens grow and the pink one for the fairies to sprinkle happiness everywhere. I love her little imagination.

It really was an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. It’s not often Poppy and I get to spend any time alone, so despite missing Rosie she actually really enjoyed not sharing me and having me all to herself.

Once Daisy got up and Rosie returned they joined in too and fun was had by us all. Daisy of course making the biggest mess of all 🙂

Happy days. I will definitely be doing more activities like this with them this summer.
