A little family mini break, my very best friend and some outdoors fun. What better way to spend the weekend?

For the past few weeks I have been itching for a weekend away. Half term seems like a long time ago now. So when the invite landed in my inbox, I jumped at the chance to go to Bluestone National Park Resort this weekend. At the end of last week we were all feeling exhausted and a little bit run down so a few days away in a National park, surrounded by beautiful countryside really appealed. My best friend Sarah was supposed to be coming to visit so we just changed the venue and arranged to take her too, making it even more perfect…the girls love their Auntie Sarah! Husband was with us too of course but on this particular occasion he was the camera man (thanks lovely husband):

This is not my review of the gorgeous lodges, fantastic facilities or the magical Kingdom Of the Elves experience… no that will follow in a day or two. This is just a short post to record some of the more simple memories we made whilst there. You see Bluestone is in the perfect location. Set in 500 acres of wild Pembrokeshire landscape it is beautiful, even in the middle of December. Anyway us being us, we had to get outdoors and play:

The girls were delighted to discover Bluestone had its very own lake and even better it had hungry ducks too. They enjoyed their walk around it so much they wanted to go round twice. The grown ups happily chatted whilst appreciating the views, the mist rising off the lake and the view of the pretty lodges behind it, whilst the girls just chased each other, played with the ducks and enjoyed being outdoors:

As you can see this particular day was bright and dry and not too cold. It had rained all day the day before so the girls were just happy to be out. Lots of fun!

Being a National Park there were plenty of trails you could go on to follow but as Poppy pointed out, Auntie Sarah didn’t have her wellies and we didn’t want to tire the girls out too much out as they still had the Elves to see. Instead we carried on exploring the village and outdoor play area before heading back for a delicious brunch. More photos to follow.

What a lovely way to spend a morning:

Keep an eye out for my full review coming soon. I can’t wait to share more.
