Its always lovely to see photos of families enjoying the beaches during the Winter time but in reality how many of the parents are shouting “don’t get wet”, “be careful”, or “you’ll fall over in a minute”? I have fond memories of the Devon beaches as a child but I also remember my own Mum saying exactly these things.

That’s why when we visited Fistral, Beach in Newquay over our New Years holiday I decided to relax a bit and not say these things out loud. Instead I just enjoyed the moment knowing I had warm, dry clothes and a towel in the car. I kept my mouth firmly closed and joined in with them jumping in the sea and contentedly stood back watching them run forwards and backwards away from the waves. I did tell them they probably wouldn’t want to let the water go higher than their wellies but it did!

Okay so they got a bit wet! Well in Rosie’s case a lot wet but did they care? No not at all. They had a wonderful time making memories of their own:

It might have been wet and windy this New Years in Cornwall but it didn’t stop these girls having fun at the beach, splashing the waves. When I say it was windy I mean super windy. Perfect for surfing or playing with your Sisters:

Those amazing waves also brought in the most amazing number of shells. The girls couldn’t collect enough of them. They want to decorate some picture frames for their rooms so watch this space.

We topped off our visit with some fish and chips. Rick Steins is right on the beach and definitely recommended.

Lots of fun and once again proving the beaches aren’t just fun in the Summer.
