There’s something a little bit magical about having three little girls in the house.

The eldest two love everything about fairies and are always on the look out for them so when the opportunity arose to review Interplay’s Fairy Garden I knew I couldn’t resist!

Aimed at 4+ you will find everything you need in the box except soil or compost. If you don’t want to buy any of that you could always use sieved soil from the garden. We used compost.

The 12pg instruction booklet included is actually really helpful and gives you detailed step by step, easy to follow instructions. Rosie (aged 4) could tell you what to do next by following the pictures whilst Poppy (aged 5) read them out:

First we added the compost, making sure it was nice and flat:

Next we built the house. This bit was the most tricky as it was a bit fiddly but they didn’t mind me helping. It was a bit breezy and kept wanting to fly away. We ended up weighting the carpet down with a stone until it was finished:

Then we built the brightly coloured path which was fun, planted the flowers and pond before adding the washing line. You can put them all anywhere you choose so yours will be completely personal:

Don’t forget to add a touch of fairy dust and sparkles. Having had the glitter out earlier in the afternoon Rosie emptied the rest of our glitter all over ours (in addition to that included), meaning it was extra sparkly. I like what she did to the pond. Since then it has alternated between pink and blue:

Oh and of course every fairy garden needs a fairy. Unfortunately ours arrived damaged and the wings were snapped off but a little bit of hot glue soon sorted that out. She looks fine now:

After only a few days the grass started to grow. It then got very long very quickly. The girls have actually enjoyed watching it every day. every few days we get the scissors out to trim it:

This is how it looks today:

We have loved this set because it is crafty and a little bit messy. It involves fairies and sparkles as well as requiring some good old team work. A great idea for a present. At only £12.99 it’s not too expensive either. It has definitely brought my girls hours of fun and we would thoughly recommend.
