Up until our recent holiday my girls at ages 2,4 and 6 years had not yet had any swimming lessons. I was becoming increasingly aware that they probably should have, as one by one all their friends were signing up for them.

However, the reasons for not having them was that all three of the girls do ballet lessons already, Rosie also does modern and tap and both big girls do gymnastics too. There is not enough time in the week to add in swimming lessons plus of course there is the cost. They are very expensive so the girls would have to give something up which they really don’t want to do. Perhaps I should have prioritised them at the start but I didn’t.

We try to go swimming as often as possible as a family. Daisy gets to go twice a week with me when the big girls are at school but then we went on holiday with Eurocamp and everything changed…..

Included within the cost of the holiday was free swimming lessons. With a lovely instructor and small groups of up to 6 children, Charlotte worked wonders with my girls.

In just one lesson Poppy was swimming. After two she was jumping in and swimming with her face under the water and by the third she was pushing off the side and swam 6 widths in a row followed by almost a length straight after her class. Amazing!

Rosie was absolutely terrified on day 1 and screamed the place down. She did eventually get in the water and joined in with a noodle. By the third she was swimming with her face under the water…even Charlotte was amazed!

Daisy was …well Daisy really. She didn’t really join in, instead doing her own thing but after each lesson she wanted to try what she had seen the others do. She was jumping in off the side, swimming with her head underneath and holding onto the side whilst kicking her legs like mad. She’s fantastic in the water.

In just three days my girls had come on in leaps and bounds in both ability and confidence. Imagine what they would have been doing if we had been there for two weeks.

Heres a very short video clip of some of the fun they had whilst learning:

If you do holiday with Eurocamp make sure you take up the offer of free swimming lessons. You might be interested in a previous post what we really thought about eurocamp too.
