I love this time of year. The Christmas tree, sparkly lights, warm nights in, time with family and friends, holidays (almost time for no work or school yeeehhh), mulled wine and laughter. What's there not to like?
Last night I asked Husband to help me take some really good photos of our tree. I had a few ideas but am still learning how to use my camera. It's been a while since my last lesson so he was only too happy to help. To be fair these photos are probably more his than mine but here they are. Christmas in our house:
Despite preferring real trees we currently have a fake one. I think it's a pretty good fake though with berries and pine cones. When it gives up we will not buy another to replace it though. It will be a real one every year!
The fairy on the top was brought 10 years ago when Husband and I spent our first Christmas in our own home. She is the girliest, fluffiest fairy I've ever seen and the girls love her as much as me 🙂 Some of our other tree decorations include:
We have lots of really cute decorations collected over the years. I love the little tin people we have. There's quite a collection of them now and they are very cute. I buy a new one every year. My favourite big glass ball balls live at the top and smaller cheaper non breakable ones at the bottom (just in case)! I love the little ornament from lake Louise. I brought it when we spent Christmas Day there in 2007. A very memorable day which included a sleigh ride on the frozen lake itself. Perfect!
Just in case you were wondering what I learnt last night, I thought I would share with you my Husbands top tips for photographing your tree:
- Use a tripod
- Don't use your flash
- Use long exposure
It really was great to have him there helping. He's a good Teacher when he's got the time.
This year I am really looking forward to waking up on Christmas morning and seeing my three gorgeous girls faces when they see that Father Christmas has been. They are all still so young still, so believe in the magic of Christmas and this year Daisy is at a lovely age where she can join in with her Sisters more. It should be a lot of fun.
It will be lovely to spend a leisurely morning at home before going across to my parents for lunch. I'm really looking forward to that as my Sister and her gorgeous boys will be there as well as my very lovely Nana. It will be a perfect day.
I really do love Christmas. How's it looking in your house?
