Something I've always fancied doing (ever since I saw Pretty Woman as a teenager) is go to the races. This year I am getting to go and I'm really excited to say that it will be for ladies day.

Now Husband is in the Forces so I am used to dressing up for balls and cocktail parties (I may even have a suitable dress or two). I know what I like and it's things like this dress from Phase Eight:

It jumped right out at me as I was perusing the internet for inspiration. I must admit I don't have any thing like this and have no idea if it would suit me or not but how gorgeous is it? I love pretty things esoecially dresses and adore dressing up but what I'm useless at is the accessorising bit. For the races I'm going to need a bit of help. For starters it's in March and is more than likely going to be a bit chilly.

Now I'm not usually a jacket type of person but I think I'm going to need one. The problem is though, I have no idea how to wear a dress and jacket combo. I would like to look bang on trend but would probably end up looking more Mother-of-the-Bride (no offence but my girls are 1,3 & 5, so plenty of time for that).

I am useless with shoes too. I have a few safe pairs I wear for nights out (not that I get many of those these days with 3 little ones) but I can't walk in high heels……and bags? I've been carrying a Mum bag for so long my collection of bags has diminished and I no longer know what works. Then there is of course the hat or fascinator…..aaahhh! It's all too much.

I've been carried away buying pretty outfits for my gorgeous girls the last few years, I've kind of forgotten how to dress myself.

I love pretty colours like pink and aqua and I really like the colour popping accessories but how to put an outfit together and make it look effortless? That's what I need help with. Usually I would wear my safe shoes, have my hair put up and wear a pashmina or shrug.

Anyway, I need some serious help. Where do I start….anyone?

All comments welcome and appreciated.

For the record this is not a sponsored post although if Phase Eight did want me to do a review for them, I would happily do so.
