Last week in Cornwall we discovered a new favourite National Trust House and gardens to explore. It was Lanhydrock in Bodmin. A magnificent Victorian country house, wooded estate and garden that we will no doubt visit time and time again. It’s that big…you can’t see and do everything in one day!
I have to credit my lovely Husband with this weeks photos though. Sometimes its hard juggling the girls, cameras, joining in with the fun and capturing it all, so we decided on this on this occasion to just take his camera :
Now one of the reasons we enjoy being part of the National Trust is the way they make children feel welcome and important. I must admit though Lanhydrock takes this to a whole other level completely and for that reason it is somewhere our family will return over and over:
The house itself is the first house we have ever been able to get the whole way around in one go without a single moan, groan or melt down. This is largely to do with the friendly staff who were very good with the girls, making them feel important and special. There was also the wonderful trails, one looking for animals and the other four Easter eggs, that kept them very busy:
Of course the house itself was far from boring anyway. It differed to the other houses we have seen where it’s difficult to imagine a family really living there. This house looks like the family really have just popped out for something and not returned. It was amazing! The girls were very interested and for once actively encouraged to touch so much more than usual and even sit down in an old school room etc. This really made a difference:
The kitchen area was something else too. I won’t spoil it by giving it all away but it was very impressive. The whole family loved exploring and then there was of course beautiful garden areas, and a fantastic playground and restaurants:
An amazing place to visit. The best house we have ever seen and fun for the whole family inside and out. We will definetley be back soon.

April 16, 2016 at 8:27 am (9 years ago)It looks like you all had a great time exploring Lanhydrock, I must say my lot will still come along if we suggest a trip there as there’s so much to see and do. The girls look like they had a great time exploring, I agree there’s so much more for kids to see and do at Lanhydrock than other national trust places. I’ve got a picture of Clio under that very same rhododendron bush. Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids
