Homemade chocolate slabs, whats not to like? We do like a bit of chocolate in this house. So when I spotted this amazing creation of homemade chocolate slabs on Instagram I knew I had to try it with my girls. Thanks Jenny you are inspirational!

A few days later when Daisy had the class bear home but wasn’t well, we decided to give it a go. Well you have to do something you can write about and we hadn’t left the house due to her being poorly. Seeing as though it was our first time at trying this and we didn’t know if it would work or not, I didn’t spend a fortune. I just brought own brand chocolate in dark, milk and white and a few bags of sweets. The total spent was £1.90. A very cheap afternoon activity.

I looked it up on the internet and it really looked easy. Just melt the chocolate, Line the desired mould with baking paper, pour in the chocolate and get creative. I didn’t interfere and just let the girls have fun with it….and fun they had.

Whilst they were all being creative I wasn’t sure how they would turn out. However, whilst they might look quite as good as Jennys we thought they were pretty impressive ourselves:

I think the trick is to not make it too thin. It needs to be thick enough to break into large pieces and not just crumble.

I was a bit worried the cheap chocolate would taste nasty but it really didn’t. The girls were thrilled with themselves and of course we had something fun to write about in the bears diary too. In fact it looked quite different to the other entries so Daisy felt as though she had done something extra special with him.

We definitely would try this again.

Have you tried making your own chocolate slabs yet?
