Last weekend we headed off to Richmond Park, Surrey for little walk. We used to visit a lot but for one reason or another have not been in ages. Amazingly it was not the deer that captured our interest this time but the hundreds of tiny ladybirds that were flying all around our heads and landing on us. It was a very strange experience!
Unfortunately I had the wrong camera lens so didn’t manage to capture any amazing photos of either the ladybirds or the deer but we all enjoyed seeing both:
The girls relished a few hours just exploring and playing together. It was actually pretty warm so coats were shed and they set about climbing all over the fallen tree stumps pretending to be explorers and working together as a team. Husband and I were delighted to see them playing so nicely together. It really was a pleasurable morning.
They were climbing, balancing and using their imaginations. Poppy had also gone organised so she could draw it all. It really was lovely:
Right at the end they made themselves a little campsite in a little clearing: a fire (lots of sticks) in the middle with log seats around the outside. Rosie wanted to actually start a fire and sat rubbing her sticks together determinedly. Then they sat pretending to toast marshmallows whilst Rosie told them all scary stories. She’s becoming quite a little character! Where do they learn this stuff though? We have never done this before.
I think they would have happily stayed for much longer but it was time for lunch so we headed off home.
I wonder what we will get up to next weekend.
As always linking in with the fabulous Country Kids.

October 24, 2015 at 10:58 pm (9 years ago)I remember your visits to the park when they were younger, lovely to see a return trip and such a pretty time of year. do watch out for the stags, it is coming into the rutting season so give them a wide birth. I love Rosie’s campfire and spooky stories, she has a great imagination. Great matching dresses too, they always look so pretty. Thank you for sharing on Country Kids.
