Driving to Padstow whilst on holiday in Cornwall a few weeks ago, I was praying the rain would ease off. If i’m perfectly honest I was the only one keen to set off on this particular adventure. Husband wasn’t feeling very well and the girls wanted to stay inside our cosy cottage with the log burner and their Christmas toys. The whole family kept giving me looks as if to say “really?” and “can’t you see it’s raining?” Thankfully though, just as we arrived the rain did ease off and we all had a fabulous time.
Padstow is another pretty harbour town further down the North Coast of Cornwall. It is quite touristy but definitely worth a visit. We were a bit shocked at how busy it was when we arrived though. We struggled to find a parking space even on a wet and windy New Years Day so dread to think what it would be like in peak season say July or August. However, once we set off looking for beaches the crowds soon disappeared and we discovered a number of deserted ones:
The actual town is lovely to explore with plenty of shops and art galleries but we were happiest exploring rock pools, caves and sandy beaches. The girls were thrilled at finding shells to make pictures with, climbing over the large rocks to discover another hidden beach and we all enjoyed being blown around all over the place. What a great day out. Even Husband felt better after a good dose of fresh air:
Splashing in the waves, pretending to be on an island and just enjoying time with their Sisters, the girls all had a great time. They still didn’t understand why they couldn’t take their wellies off though! Honestly children!

Loving life with little ones
January 18, 2016 at 1:21 pm (9 years ago)Love Padstow, we alway visit when in the area. If you walk past the aquarium bit from the town towards the start of the cycle path there are some steps and a path going up the hill opposite the boats, loads of parking up there in the housing estates and all free! I can’t remember how to get to it by car!!
