My girls love Disney’s Sophia the First, especially Rosie who is a huge fan. Having recently been sent a LeapReader to review the girls were thrilled to be asked to review the Sophia the First Read on Your Own book to go with it.
The Read on Your Own series is for children aged 4-8 and has been designed to inspire and support children as they build confidence and independence as readers:
Join Disney’s Princess Sofia on a Buttercup troop trip in the Pepper Tree Forest in this LeapReader™ Read On Your Own Book.
When Princess Sofia goes exploring in the forest, a worried King Roland sends along Baileywick, the castle caretaker, to keep her safe. When her royal escort makes a rash decision to pick dangerous wildflowers, Sofia takes the lead and uses her ingenuity to save the day!
Our Opinion:
Rosie (age 4) likes the story, the characters and the fact she is able to read alone with it.
Poppy (age 6) thinks the book is way too easy for her to read but it’s still fun using the pen and playing the games. She thinks it’s great for her Sister who is only just learning to read.
Mummy and Daddy think it’s a genius way to make reading and learning enjoyable. Children have fun whilst practicing and building on new skills. It Improves reading, vocabulary and comprehension as well as counting and number recognition. The girls don’t even realise they are learning and can even use it together.
We all agree this book is perfect for little princesses aged 4+ but not so sure we would give it to a 7-8 year old though. Poppy has no trouble at 6 years so we think the older ones would use it a few times before moving on to another.
Overall a great little book that these girls are going to enjoy and get a lot out of.
Thanks LeapFrog!
