This week the girls have had the chance to be real country kids as we've been looking after chickens for a friend.

At the start of the week the chickens had no names but now they do:

They have really enjoyed getting up in the morning and letting them out. They've helped fill their bowl with food, check the water and of course collect eggs. They've reminded Mummy it's time to put them to bed and enjoyed saying “night, night”as we locked the door. They have all felt very important:

I've loved hearing their little squeals of delight as they discovered eggs have been laid and reach in to get them. It's been just lovely:

All the girls enjoyed the experience. Poppy liked the responsibility and enjoyed the collecting eggs bit best whilst Rosie was the most fascinated:

Daisy thought the whole experience was very funny and really made me smile. She discovered their little boys ride on tractor and that was it. The chickens happily chased her all over the garden. It was very cute:

So our four days are up now but the girls haven't stopped talking about them. They've been eating eggs every day (the freshest, most delicious ones ever) and think we should get chickens now.

Maybe one day we'll have a big house in the country complete with horses and ponies (the original dream) and chickens!

As with all our great outdoors adventures, I'm linking this in with Country kids.
