Last weekend we discovered somewhere new to visit, somewhere we know is going to become one of our faveourite places to go. It offers beautiful National Trust woodland, including a play trail we haven't yet seen, a gorgeous lake complete with ducks and swans, a beautiful old house to explore and so much more.

It was Osterley Park, a beautiful Georgian country estate in west London.

Surrounded by gardens, park and farmland, Osterley is one of the last surviving country estates in London.

We took with us Mike, the classroom penguin. It was Poppys turn to have him for the weekend. He had lots of fun and is in most of the photos:

There was plenty of room for the girls to run, play and explore. There were huge tree trunks to climb on and in. There were lots of leaves and puddles and even a lovely looking cafe:

The actual house was really impressive and there were people in every room to talk you through things and keep the children entertained. The girls were welcomed in and even given a little wooden clicker to get involved in a game.

Once described by Horace Walpole as 'the palace of palaces', Osterley was created in the late 18th century by architect and designer Robert Adam for the Child family to entertain and impress their friends and clients.

We only saw a small bit of the house but would definitely go back again. As I said at the start I think we might head here a lot. The grounds are so pretty and so quiet, we loved it.

As usual I am linking this in with country kids, my inspiration behind getting outdoors more.
