Joining the National Trust has meant we are getting out and exploring places we would never have gone to otherwise. Take this trip we did a few weeks ago to Westbury Court Garden in Gloucestershire. Somewhere we have driven past a million times whilst on the way out to other great adventures but had never ventured in.

Once inside we discovered a beautiful Dutch style water garden, in fact the only one lovingly restored in the country. Unsure of what to expect, we were excited to be able to explore canals, feed fish and ducks, play good old pooh sticks from a bridge and even enjoy a game of hide and seek amongst the clipped hedges and working 17th-century vegetable plots.

There was a secret garden, rabbits and amazing old varieties of fruit trees displayed in the most fantastic way:

It didn’t even matter that it rained a bit, the girls still enjoyed themselves especially when Daddy got the umbrellas out:

The best bit – when the sun came back out and to the girls delight we shared our picnic with a family of seven ducks. Just amazing.

Despite it being a bit of a drizzly morning we still had fun and would love to go back again.

As usual linking our days out in with Country Kids – our inspiration behind our outdoor adventures.
