Being a Mum to three little girls aged 1-5 is exhausting so I need coffee to start the day. In fact I’m not human until I’ve had that first cup. My cafetiere broke ages ago and I’d been meaning to get around to buying a new one but hadn’t. Then the opportunity to review a Tassimo multiple hot drinks machine cropped up and I haven’t looked back. A cafetiere….what’s one of those?
I must admit I hadn’t considered buying a Tassimo before. After all most of these kitchen gadgets are fads right?
I opted for the Tassimo T55 mainly because of the Brita Filter and the self cleaning options. We are fond of big cups in our house so I was pleased to see it also offered the choice of cup size and had a 3 different height adjustments too.
The one thing I was unsure of when I ordered it, was whether there would be any coffee to try in the box? I googled it before it arrived and found no answers. Luckily I ordered some as there wasn’t any samples, not even one teeny, weeny one. I really think there should have been a few to get you started, after all this is not a cheap product.
However, the machine was all in one piece and you simply lifted it out of the box. No mess, no fuss. I was instantly impressed. This is one kitchen appliance that won’t get shoved in a cupboard. It’s black and chrome and very stylish so looks lovely on the kitchen worktop.
Before you get started though, you have to put the Brita Filter in and put the machine though a cleaning process three times. Now this did take a while and was a bit fiddly, in fact impatient old me was getting a bit bored of waiting but I did it as it stated and am glad I did. The coffee tastes fantastic.
Not only does this machine provide coffee, it can makes pretty much any drink you like…tea, latte, hot chocolate. In fact there are over 40 different varieties including leading brands like Kenco, Twinings, Cadbury, Carte Noire and the new Costa range. There really is something for everyone. We have only had it a few weeks but have tried Costa cappuccino, Costa Americano, Carte Noire Latte Macchiato and Cadburys hot chocolate, all absolutely delicious!
How does it work?
Well it really is easy to use. You simply switch on, place in your choice of T disc upside down and press a button depending on whether you want a large or small cup. That’s it. There is very little heating time so your drink is pretty much instant (but tastes 100% times better). Tassimo machines offer a unique barcode reader which ensures each drink is brewed exactly how it’s should be. This enables the machine to manage the water amount, the temperature, pressure and brewing time, meaning that every drink is made to perfection right down to the frothy milk on your latte. They even smell like the real thing mmmmmmmm.
Husband thought at first that the Tdiscs were too expensive but after a rare trip to Costa for the two of us (minus kids – a real treat!) he soon realised they weren’t that bad. It’s definitely worth having a look around as there are bargains to be found, especially online and if you buy in bulk. It’s also cheaper than coffee out.
Would I recommend?
A machine that makes more than just coffee, is super easy to use, pretty much cleans itself and has a Brita Filter. Ok it’s a bit fiddly before the first use but really what’s not to like? I would definitely recommend and say go on, treat yourself! I just need to order few more flavours now and get my friends round.
Now I reviewed this product as part of a review for Revooly.com a website that offers paid reviews on electrical products. You can see my review of my experience here . It’s well worth checking their site as they check daily for you to find the cheapest place for products.
