Husband and I often joke that our children run on different batteries. Their energy, abilities and motivation levels are all very different and not like you might expect at all.
Daisy (aged 3) runs on Duracell:
This child literally does not stop moving from the time she wakes up to the time she goes to bed (minus an hour long afternoon nap). She just goes and goes and goes and just when you think she might give up, she goes for a little longer. You will never hear the words “my legs hurt” or “I can’t walk any further” from her, she can literally walk for miles. She will out walk all of her Sisters and has done for a long time. Daddy often jokes she will be in the Olympics. She can run really fast, took off on her scooter and balance bike at just 18 months and can even throw and catch really well. I definitely think she might be sporty.
Poppy (aged 7) runs on the leading supermarket brand.
Not quite as good as Duracell but she will always strive to do her best and keep up. She keeps going for an impressive stretch of time; running, jumping and climbing without complaint but will eventually flag and need a long rest. She also tires when she has a few busy days in a row, needing a quiet day at home to recover. Like both her Sisters she does dance non stop but has recently given up ballet lessons. The need to take exams and extra lessons was too much pressure for her. Thankfully she’s sensible enough to say” its all too much, Ive had enough”.
Rosie (aged 5) runs on an economy/ supermarket own brand.
She does enjoy being outdoors and will walk quite far. She runs, skips and plays with the others for a while but she is always the first to complain of sore legs and tiredness and even ask when we are going home. She would be the first to complain of being wet or feeling cold and dare I say it? – is a little lazier than the others. She does do a lot of exercise in an average week though. She has her PE lessons and then takes gymnastics, ballet, modern and tap classes so that’s quite a lot for a five year old I think.
Three little girls all very different but equally lovely.
What batteries do your children run on?
Karen x
My photos aren’t the best this week. They were just taken on my phone rather than the real camera but they do capture their little personalities pretty well.

April 24, 2016 at 7:57 pm (9 years ago)That’s a great analogy, I love it! My big girl does seem o tire much quicker than her younger sister but she’s stubborn and wont admit it, she keeps going but she’s just really grumpy about it. Oh the joys!

April 26, 2016 at 6:22 pm (9 years ago)They do change a lot but no sooner Daisy could walk, she could run, scoot and cycle. It was amazing. She’s always had the most energy for any child I know x
