It's true that you don't know what you've got until you dont have it anymore and we all take things for granted too.
Take sitting at the dinner table. We have always sat round the table and eaten together as a family. It's just natural. Yes at times Husband might not get back in time to eat with us or we might have a picnic in the garden instead but generally it's where we eat and as often as possible we all sit together.
Our old table had seen better days and was coming to the end of it's life. Luckily for me I was getting to review a new one (so exciting, review coming very soon) so when we were moving a few weeks ago, the old one was recycled and didn't move with us. Perhaps in hindsight we shouldn't have been so hasty but never mind. It's done now and the new one has arrived (yeeehhh).
Anyway, when we got to the new house we managed without a table and chairs for a few days but quickly realised we needed one to tide us over until the new one arrived. Luckily we dug out an old extendable kitchen table that' had been in the garage for a few years (not enough space). There was only 1 chair left so we found a footstool, used Daisy's Highchair and 2 other pieces of furniture to make do for 2 weeks. It wasn't ideal but at least we were all sat up at the table together, something that we have realised is far more important to us than we imagined.
It got me thinking how do people cope without a table and chairs? We definitely couldn't manage without one and are very excited about our shiny new one. It's gorgeous!
Our dining furniture isn't just for eating at. It's a huge focal point In our living/ dining room and something we use all the time. Not just for meals we also use it for snacks, homework, getting crafty, coffee and chats, sometimes even a glass of wine of two. We definitely wouldn't be without it and can't wait to show it off to you properly soon 🙂
What do you use yours for?
