We were supposed to be going on our first family trip abroad this Easter. We had organised the passports and found the perfect holiday when our tenants told us they were moving…..aaahhh! A month later and a lot of time and money spent on putting the house back in order meant our savings had dwindled and we could no longer afford it. At first I was really disappointed but then I discovered featherdown farms and started to get excited.
We’ve been back a week now from a very lovely week long break at Boswarthen Farm, Penzance and I wanted to tell you all about it as it was pretty special.
First of all the safari tents look exactly as they do on the youtube video. They are amazing and make you go wow! The kitchens are stocked full of everything you need to prepare delicious meals, the log burner is just gorgeous and much appreciated in the evenings, the beds are really comfortable with fluffy warm duvets and pillows and the cupboard bed is amazing. The girls were snug as bugs cuddled up in there together. It was definitely the warmest place to be:
It was freezing the first night we were there but Madeline the owner was lovely and gave us extra duvets and hot water bottles which made a huge difference. Both Madeline and Adrian were really friendly and approachable, ensuring you were completely happy and comfortable, nothing seemed too much for them and they really helped make the holiday special.
Very importantly, the showers were really clean and really warm. We took a big tub which we filled with warm water from the shower for Daisy and she happily played in it allowing all of us to get washed. I would have loved to bath her outside amongst the dandelions (great photo opportunity) but it was too cold!
There was so much to do from learning all about the cows, seeing them being fed and milked, we even saw a calf bring born. It was brilliant. There was also so much space to let the children just run and play, it felt really safe.
Here’s are some of our top tips on what to get up to on your break:
Highlights for us were seeing the calf born and the calfs in general, collecting eggs every day (and for the girls Mummy chasing the chickens when Daisy let them out), pizza night, the camp fires with toasted marshmallows and gator rides, seeing the wild ponies and just playing on the various beaches.
So what did we really think of the no electricity or wifi? Well to be perfectly honest it was refreshing. We spent the whole week playing with our girls with no distractions. They benefited from our undivided attention and we definitely all relaxed. It did us the world of good.
We had a fantastic break and would definitely go back again.
Karen x
Please note this was not a sponsored break. It was just a lovely family one that I wanted to write about and share.

Coombe Mill - Fiona
April 26, 2014 at 10:09 am (11 years ago)No electricity or wifi sounds like a nightmare to most but it sounds like you had a week of quality family time and had great fun together! Cornwall is a lovely and even better when the sun is shining (I may be biased though). Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
