This week we have been enjoying a half term break in the Cotswolds. It really was lovely to get away, particularly with such a bad first half term health wise. We all enjoyed being out in the fresh air, making the most of some quality family time.
It was very different to our summer holiday, no sandy beaches and blue skies this time. Instead it was grey skies, involved wrapping up in warmer clothes and wellies to jump in crunchy orange, yellow and brown leaves. Still lots of fun though and a definite break from the norm.
Here’s a little glimpse of what we have been up over our Autumn half term week.
A is for Abbey.
We Lacocok Abbey, a countryhouse with monastic roots and Britain’s birthplace of photography. It was a fantastic day out with a brilliant trail the whole family enjoyed. I can’t wait to share lots more photos and tell you all about it next week.
U is for Uncrowded
It was so lovely to just get away from the hectic life of South West London and be in the countryside. Space to run and play and just enjoy being together. We are moving back this way early next year and can’t wait.
T is for Trees
The trees were so pretty in different shades of green, orange, brown and red. It definitely felt like Autumn. The girls enjoyed playing in, throwing and collecting leaves in all the different colours. One of those simple things that all children love to do.
U is for Understanding
Poppys next topic at school is the Romans so she was thrilled to visit a Roman Amphitheatre and Roman villa. The perfect way to prepare herself, learn and understand what life was really like for the romans. A highlight was the medicine man and again will be sharing it all soon.
M is for Muddy Farm
The girls adore animals so were delighted to visit a farm this half term. We had so much fun, took loads of photos and will definitely be sharing it all next week. There were little goats and sheep to feed, baby piglets running around our feet. There were horses and ponies, bunnies and even chicks. A real highlight of our week.
N is for National Trust
Days out for a family of five are expensive so we really do make the most of our National Trust membership. Theres so much for the children to see, do and enjoy. We visited several this half term and will definitely be sharing all once I’ve gone through all the photos and have a minute to write about them.
A really enjoyable week away. Just what the doctor ordered.
Hope you’ve all had a good week too.

October 31, 2016 at 2:55 pm (8 years ago)It looks like you all had a wonderful week away in the Cotswolds, clearly the perfect family holiday for you all. You managed to fit so much outdoor fun into this holiday and it’s great to see the girls have such big smiles on their faces. It’s great that you managed to squeeze in some learning for Poppy too, I’m sure she’ll start learning about the Romans with much more excitement having visited some sites on your holiday.
Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.
