Nowadays when we ask our girls who wants to go for a walk we are met with faces like this:

It’s just a normal part of our weekends now. At least one of them usually voices an opinion on where they want to go but getting out in the fresh air, running freely and playing together, they are perfectly happy.

Last week we headed out for a walk in one of our favourite National Trust gardens. The sky was blue and the sun was shining but there was a definite Autumnal feel in the air. There was no doubt that the Summer is well and truly over now:

It was still warm enough to leave the coats at home but the girls dresses were warmer and tights and cardigans were required:

The girls enjoyed seeing all the different colours, running through the leaves and throwing them in the air as you do:

They rolled down the hills and pretended to fish in the lake:

They enjoyed the play parks, the wildlife and especially the thatched cottage – a Victorian refuge filled with fun toys, games, picnic rugs and dressing up clothes:

but best of all were the horse chestnuts. We collected a huge pile and then came home and roasted them….delicious!! The girls couldn’t wait to try them and loved them.

All in all another great family day out.
