What makes our perfect holiday?

For us it isn’t about just one thing or one place. It is about spending quality time together as a family without any of the everyday stuff getting in the way. A time for relaxation and recharging, trying new things, discovering new places and having adventures.

Most of all they are fun….lots and lots of fun!

Life is too short and children grow up far too quickly so we intend to make the most of it. We haven’t quite got the courage to just take a year out and travel the World but we do want to see as much of it and experience as many adventures as possible together.

Luckily the girls are up for this too and together have decided we need a huge map of adventure at home where we can stick photos on of places we have been and plan our next big trip. We haven’t brought it yet but it is going to go up in our new kitchen/diner and will be an important part of our family life. We are also going to try new things everywhere we go… new foods, adventures and activities.

So who are we all? Well in case you don’t know us already meet the family:

Daisy

Aged 3 she might be the youngest in the family but she is totally fearless. Daisy wants to go everywhere, see everything and try everything. She still talks about paddling (canoeing) last Summer, loves the climbing wall and one day will terrify us when she tells us she’s off around the world! I can already see her head down, no poles, bombing down a piste. She will be our biggest thrill seeker!

Rosie

Aged 5, she can be slightly cautious of new experiences but quickly overcomes this and joins in with her Sisters. She loves the sunshine, the beach and enjoys making new friends wherever she goes. A huge fan of kids clubs and exploring new places, she loves ice creams and swimming too. She is also the joker in the family, always pulling funny faces or poking her tongue out to make her sisters giggle.

Poppy

Aged 7 and too cool for words. She can be a little anxious but is keen to travel the World and see all of the countries on her map in her bedroom. Born in Canada, she would love to go back to mountains and try skiing and ice skating for herself. She takes everything in her stride and is happy to try new things. I can imagine her with a snowboard or windsurf. She is a huge fan of waterslides and would love to try some water sports. We often attach GoPro to her.

Husband, Shane

mum and betty visit_0320

A keen photographer, diver,  intermediate skier, marathon runner and pretty good at whatever he does. He is a proper hands on Daddy and is happiest being on holiday with us all. He is never far away from his camera  or his GoPro and big bag of accessories, often spotted with the latter attached to head, chest or micro scooter which is very amusing to the rest of us! I then edit it all and call the videos mine!

and then there is me,

Karen

SHANE 018-2

Slightly chaotic and often exhausted, I am  always dreaming of sunshine and holidays. I love taking photos, can dive and ski, and have even tried snowboarding. One day I would love to try skydiving too.  Always up for new experiences,  I don’t want to get old. I just want to make the most of life with my little family, travel the World and have as much fun together  as possible. When i’m not lying on my sun lounger relaxing with a book and mojito that is!

Husband and I have always been passionate about travel and prior to children shared some amazing holidays and experiences together, getting away several times a year. We were huge fans of the Maldives, going back three times, we spent 6 weeks in Borneo and Maylasia and regularly went diving in the red sea. We plan on seeing the seven wonders of the earth together and are happiest away on holiday.

We also spent two years living in Canada where we learnt to ski and ice skate, both playing in ice  hockey teams. We were very adventurous back then and took our first daughter on regular road trips from only six weeks old. Favourites included travelling across Canada from Alberta to Vancouver island showing her grizzly bears, seals and whales (she slept through it all). Then a few months later doing a fly drive down along the West coast of America, taking in California, San Diego and Las Vegas. Amazing memories we will never forget:

As our next two girls arrived we spent a few years enjoying holidays in the UK and Europe but early last year decided we want to become more adventurous again. That’s when our plan began to form, we mentioned it to the girls and they ran with it. They know there is a whole world out there waiting to be explored and they can’t wait to do it.

So that’s us in a nutshell. One family on a mission to live life to the max. Trying new experiences, seeking thrills and adventures and making magical memories of our life together.

Here’s a little video of us having a few adventures:

This is our entry to become a Mark Warner Family Ambassador under the Adventure Junkie category. Having seen posts written by some of the current Ambassadors we already know about some of the amazing adventures to be had. Fingers  crossed. This is one partnership that would be absolutely perfect for us!
