Who would have thought that not far off the M6 is a forest full of monkeys? Well there is and we have been there today. Its the Monkey Forest at Trentham, Staffordshire.
Set in 60 acres of beautiful Staffordshire woodland and meadows, 140 monkeys live in total freedom.
A pretty 3/4 mile winding forest path takes you through the splendid forest of Trentham Estate woodlands where the monkeys live.
The monkeys roam freely meaning you may even see one of them walk across the path in front of you and you can observe them living as they would in the Atlas mountains of Algeria and Morocco.
Look at all these gorgeous monkeys we saw:
A pretty walk, helpful guides with lots of interesting facts, opportunities to see feeding times and interactive boards for the kids meant we all had a great time. If it wasn’t for the weather we would have dawdled a bit longer and even stopped for a picnic.
We couldn’t believe how close to the monkeys we got. Much to the amazement and delight of the girls, they literally sat next to us and ran across the path in front of us:
Pram/buggy friendly, there is also a play park, cafe and toilets/nappy changing facilities.
It was a great family day out and one we would recommend.
