My girls are pretty good at cleaning their teeth and actually look forward to this part of their daily routine, therefore I was more than happy to trial some new products from Brush Baby.

We were sent one chewable toothbrush in pink (age 10 months to 3 years) and one tube of baby and toddler toothpaste (age 0-3 years).

First up is the chewable toothbrush. This product is designed for babies and toddlers to use as both a toothbrush and a teether. Designed to fit little mouths correctly, with toothpaste it helps clean teeth and gums or it can be cooled in the fridge to help soothe gums. It is also dishwasher safe.

I like the idea of this but as Rosie (aged 21months) is already used to a proper toothbrush, she didnt take to it very well. She had a little chew, sucked off the toothpaste and then placed it on the side asking for her own toothbrush:

Poppy (aged 3 and a half) was then keen to find out what it was all about so had a go too.

She then declared it was “for babies not little girls”. We discussed it and decided it would be a good idea to put it away for our new baby. Both girls seemed happy with this suggestion, so that’s what we are going to do.

I think it is probably a great product for little ones as a first toothbrush but for Rosie it was a bit like a step backwards.

Next up was the toothpaste:

This low foaming, clear toothpaste contains Xylitol to help reduce the number of decay-causing bacteria and lower flouride because many babies and toddlers swallow toothpaste. It is also SLS free and has a gentle applemint flavour.

The girls seemed happy enough with the taste and texture.  I tried it and could taste the gentle hint of apple but Poppy declared it tasted of strawberries! I guess it has a subtle hint of fruit so would be ideal as a first toothpaste.

Overall I think my girls are happy with their usual toothbrush and toothpaste but I would happily use these in the early days with the new one.
