Today was London marathon day and my husband was one of around 38000 people to participate:
Despite really wanting to go into London to support him, I knew it would be difficult with three small children so instead us girls stayed home and had our own marathon party.
The girls wore their UNICEF tshirts, there was balloons, cake and other party food. I had wanted to make cakes with red, white and blue decorations but the girls had other ideas:
They also made a banner for Daddy. In case you can't read it it says GO DADDY. Very sweet and lots of fun. It kept them busy for a while too:
We had the marathon on the TV but didn't see him, we did however track him on the computer and he did it in a very respectable 4 hours 37 minutes. Not quite as quickly as he wanted but very good none the less.
Poppy who is a very competitive 6 year old was convinced he could win haha. We did explain about the elite runners and she seemed to understand but she didn't. She was thrilled he had a silver medal though (well that's 2nd isn't it)?
We are definitley very proud of him, even if he didn't win but we do think he's a little crazy (already planning the next one). He's also inspired me to keep running too. 10ks now ….. a marathon in a few years?
Did you or anyone you know run it?
