We love Cornwall and have been on a number of holidays there over the past few years. Last week we were thrilled to be invited to stay for a week in the very beautiful Trevos in St Merryn, Padstow. A four bedroom, 3 bathroom modern holiday home sleeping 9.
The house itself is gorgeous, welcoming, clean and spacious. In fact the type of house we would love to live in…a real home from home.
From the minute you step inside the large open hallway you are greeted with little touches like a big wicker basket for all your shoes to hide away in, a table complete with keys and local map of the area and that feeling of “phew we can relax, we are on holiday”:
The kitchen is spacious and filled with everything you might need including a washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher. Particularly handy with lots of you or young children. A lovely basket of goodies awaits you on arrival, filled with things like eggs and bread to start you off. There is both a large dinning table and a breakfast bar with stools so plenty of space for everyone to sit. You will find a huge fridge freezer with ice for those evening drinks, enough pots and pans to cook a roast dinner if you choose and even the little things like egg cups and a cork screw. We couldn’t find anything missing that we might need:
Double doors lead out to a little garden complete with a lovely summer house and patio furniture. Ideal for those with little ones or just to enjoy a glass of wine on a warm Summer evening. Perfect for a holiday home:
There is of course a relaxing lounge complete with dvd player. Our girls were thrilled to discover a number of dvds and games in the draw:
Upstairs are 4 bedrooms. One has a super king bed and ensuite, thats where we stayed. They have taken the door of the bathroom to fit the bed in but I would have done the same, it works perfectly and we found we had plenty of space for everything we needed. The beds are all made up for you ready for your arrival and the softest, fluffiest white towels are provided for you all too. You will also find a hairdryer in the room:
There is another double room, a smaller one with bunk beds in and a triple room (twin beds with a roll out bed too). We decided to put all three girls in the triple room and it was perfect.
The only thing I would say is that there were no black out blinds in the children rooms. However, this is something the owners are considering. That said though with all the fresh air and exercise the girls had during the day, they were absolutely shattered and had no problems sleeping or with waking early. Another TV meant they even stayed happily in there a little later in the morning too…bonus! They always enjoy sharing:
The large chest at the top of the stairs is filled with all sorts of games to help yourself to. The girls enjoyed playing Operation, Jenga and Junior Cludo. You will also find a number of books both upstairs in the bedrooms and downstairs on the book case to borrow. They really have thought of everything. All they ask is that you put them back from where you took them:
Trevos really is a beautiful holiday home in the perfect location. We found it to be very quiet and relaxing. Set back from the village in a small cul-de-sac and backing onto fields meant it was very peaceful. In fact the only thing we heard was a cockerel and he woke slightly later than our girls. I just hope we didn’t disturb the peace too much!
Beaches are just a mile away and you will find pretty much everything you need in the village. Along with the bakers (thoroughly recommended and used daily) are a deli and village shop together with a number of child friendly restaurants and places to eat. These include a wine bar, pizza restaurant, fish and chip shop and Chinese. In fact you wouldn’t need to cook if you didn’t want to. If you do though, a local Tesco is close by in Padstow.
This is definitley somewhere we would love to return to. A great base to get out and explore Cornwall from:
