You know those friends who you don’t see for ages but when you do its just lovely and like you saw each other yesterday? Well on Saturday we met up with friends just like that and enjoyed a lovely day together.
We used to know Dom and Annie and live near each other 15 years ago! As I write that it doesn’t seem possible. Over the years Husband and I have moved around a lot with his job but the men have always stayed in touch and even caught up a few times over the years. aThen they both came to visit with their boys when Rosie was a tiny baby. I hadn’t seen them since then…until Saturday when we met up at a big band and pop concert Husband had tickets too:
Think sunshine, music, friends, dancing and maybe a little prosecco too:
It could have gone either way but it really was lovely. Despite having 2,5,6,9 and 12 year olds there was no fuss and they got on amazingly well. The boys were really lovely with the girls and were quickly encouraged to chase after them and join in practicing gymnastic moves on the lawn whilst accompanied by the music. Honestly the boys didn’t get a rest with my three:
In case you are wondering the amazing funny drink they are testing here is sparkling water.
There really wasn’t much shyness. Rosie in particular was quite taken with Dominic and she’s usually really weary of new people:
There was actually two concerts so we went to one and then came back to ours for a barbecue and freshen up (bath and wardrobe change for Daisy) before heading back out again.
Now our girls always go to bed at 7pm but we had agreed, if they were good to let them stay up to 9.30pm when we thought it finished. We took the buggy for Daisy. Daisy got in it at 9pm but didn’t sleep and the concert went on until 11pm ending in the most amazing “bangless” fireworks to music. A great night! There were no melt downs, actually a lie in in the morning and everyone went home happy.
We won’t leave it as long before catching up again.
What a lovely day.

July 11, 2015 at 12:07 pm (10 years ago)It’s great when friends you haven’t seen since you both have kids meet up with you and everyone really gets on well. The boys look like they’re having a great time running around with your girls. I’m sure your girls were so excited when they got to stay up late and enjoy the music. Thanks for linking up with me on Country Kids.

July 16, 2015 at 7:08 am (9 years ago)wow sounds like you all had a fab dat, so many happy smiling photographs. Chuckled at the fizzy water bit, Bob and Fifi wont drink it at all. Sometimes they do amaze you and last out much nicer than normal, and mine never stayed in bed longer in the morning no matter how late they went, so well done on the lie in girls.
