At 39 weeks pregnant I am ready to pop. Apparently I am quite grumpy (although I am trying not to be), I am pretty tired and my bump feels huge…. well to be honest it is. Here is a picture of me today at 39+2:

Sleep is almost impossible with this lump attached to me, my itchiness is back stronger than ever and I have had enough now. I want this baby out.

I have been to visit the local Birth unit where I want it all to happen and it is lovely. There are birthing pools, comfy sofas, beanbags and birth balls with not a bed in sight!! I have my fingers crossed all goes to plan and i can deliver there. All the midwives are trained in  essential oils and water births and it seems like a very relaxed friendly place to be. I loved all the little touches like candles, soft lightning, CD player too.

I saw the midwife last week who took my bloods, she rang this week to tell me I am anaemic…whoops not been taking my vitamins since I moved and she wants to repeat the bile liver salts as they came back borderline/ a bit dodgy. I am going to get this all checked on Thursday but to be honest I hope she is here before then.

I have been trying everything to get her out, all the obvious plus walked up a big hill,  stairs. eaten spicy food, bounced on birthing ball, got husband to drive over bumps, clary sage oil in bath, husband massages pressure points with the oil too….nothing is working. Last night I had a spicy curry which just resulted in giving me a severe upset tummy today and left me feeling quite sick. Not pleasant and definitely not how I would like to turn up at the unit.

I know she will come when she is ready but I am ready now.

Each week I have posted a picture of how big my baby should be compared to a piece of fruit or veg. Well this week she is the size of a watermelon. I really do look like I have a watermelon shoved up my top too.

According to The Baby Centre UK:

It’s all about watching and waiting now, as your baby could arrive any day. Your baby could be up to 50cm long, and weigh about 3kg. But that’s only an average figure. As soon as your baby is born, your midwife will weigh him, and it’s only then you’ll know for sure how much he weighs.

Your baby is shedding the greasy, white substance (vernix caseosa) which has been protecting his skin. This turns the amniotic fluid, which was once clear, pale and milky. The outer layers of your baby’s skin are also sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.

The hair on your baby’s head may now be thick, and his fingernails extend beyond his fingertips. They may look long when he’s born. Your baby’s skull bones are not yet fused, which allows them to overlap as he passes through the birth canal during labour. This is the reason your baby’s head may look cone-shaped after birth.

So there you have it, she is fully cooked so I see no reason in her not coming now, I know I am impatient but there you go. Its my diary and this is how I feel.

I have been nesting, tidying and cleaning although Husband and the girls mess it up as soon as its done. I have been meaning to prepare and cook some meals but have not got around to doing it yet. Maybe the lack of energy is related to  anaemia. I might get around to doing it this week.
